VPN can be setup other wise with some Router configuration and what not. In my opinion, from what I have read, Hamachi seems to be a bad choice for creating a VPN since all machines that use Hamachi are actually clients which connect to a main server. Further more, the wikipedia page on it states that it doesnt work with all NAT routers without doing a port forward. never used it before, but it seems the only way it worked for the OP was to enter the ports it uses into the firewall. Basically where you friend will remotely login to your Network, then have access to your network services - and by so doing, only the people on your network (which he will then be logged onto) will be able to play on the game server?
